I have been interested in electric and solar power all my life. I can still remember seeing my first solar cell when my father brought one home from work back in the early 1960’s. Wow, electricity directly from the sun. I was finally able to afford installing solar panels on my roof last November (10.8 kw). Although my set-up is less then ideal, I expect to meet about 2/3 to 3/4 of my yearly needs. One of my favorite activities is watching my electric meter run backwards.

Back in March I traded in my 2015 Toyota RAV4 for a new 2023 RAV4 Prime PHEV. I really think this is the way to go. I can plug it into a regular 110 volt outlet in my garage and charge it overnight. This will give me about 54 miles of all electric driving, which covers most of my daily needs. In HV mode I can get about 43 m.p.h. No need to ever use a public charger.
